Shogun Wins Best Drama as First Non-English Series

Shogun has made Emmy history by being the first series in a non-English language to win the Best Drama award.

This epic show, based on a novel from 1975, won four awards during the ceremony. Among these were Emmys for the lead actors Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai. They are the first Japanese actors to win these awards.

Sanada’s Inspiring Words

Sanada said the show taught him that “when people work together, we can do miracles and build a better future together.”

Shogun Breaks Records at Creative Arts Emmys

This month, Shogun, available for streaming on Hulu and Disney+, made history at the Creative Arts Emmys. It won 14 awards in one night, the most any series has ever won in a single year.

Second Emmy Win of the Year

This is the second Emmy win of the year. Last year’s ceremony was postponed due to two Hollywood strikes. In January, the final season of Succession won many awards.

The Bear Dominates Comedy Awards

The Bear Wins Most Comedy Awards

The Bear won most of the comedy awards, including four Emmys for actors Jeremy Allen White, Eben Moss-Bachrach, and Lizzy Caplan. Lizzy won her first Emmy, beating Meryl Streep and Carol Burnett. In her emotional speech, she said, “To all the Latina women watching, believe and vote. Vote for your rights.”

The Bear’s Record-Breaking Season

The Creative Arts Emmys last weekend and tonight’s wins have made The Bear’s second season the most awarded comedy season in Emmy history. Hosts Eugene and Dan Levy joked about the show’s category, which has been criticized recently. Eugene said, “I really love this show, and I know some of you might expect us to joke about whether The Bear is really a comedy, but true to the spirit of The Bear, we won’t make any jokes.”
